Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park
Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is located in Quang Tri Province (formerly Quang Binh Province), about 45 km northwest of Dong Hoi Airport. It is one of the few natural heritage sites in the world to have been recognized by UNESCO multiple times for its exceptional natural significance.
In 2003, the national park was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding geological and geomorphological features. It is home to a 400-million-year-old limestone karst landscape and one of the world's largest and most spectacular networks of caves and underground rivers. In 2015, UNESCO expanded the site's designation to include its exceptional biodiversity and ecosystems, highlighting Phong Nha - Ke Bang as one of Southeast Asia's most important remaining tropical forests. The park is home to thousands of plant and animal species, many of which are rare or found nowhere else on Earth.
Building on these achievements, in 2026, UNESCO also designated Phong Nha - Ke Bang as a World Biosphere Reserve, recognizing its importance for biodiversity conservation and scientific research in Vietnam.
To date, around 472 caves have been recorded within the national park. The most famous is Son Doong Cave, the world's largest natural cave, along with other spectacular caves such as Hang En Cave, Hang Va Cave, and Nuoc Nut Cave. Thanks to these extraordinary natural features, Phong Nha–Ke Bang has become one of the world's premier destinations for cave exploration, attracting adventure travelers from across the globe.

Beyond cave expeditions, visitors can also enjoy more relaxed sightseeing experiences in Phong Nha, including visits to Phong Nha Cave, Paradise Cave, and Tien Son Cave. For those who enjoy outdoor adventures, Mooc Spring and Chay River - Dark Cave offer activities such as swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), ziplining across turquoise waters, and even relaxing in a natural mud bath inside a cave. Phong Nha is also loved for its peaceful countryside. You can cycle through lush rice fields, visit local farms, sample regional specialties, and unwind at charming farmstays surrounded by nature.
Complex of Hue Monuments
Set along the peaceful Huong River, the Complex of Hue Monuments is one of the highlights of Central Vietnam's Heritage Road. It preserves the legacy of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty in Vietnamese history, through an extensive complex of palaces, citadels, royal tombs, and temples. From 1802 to 1945, Hue served as Vietnam's capital, becoming the political and cultural heart of the country. Thanks to its outstanding historical significance, remarkable architecture, and carefully planned urban design, the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex became Vietnam's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
At the heart of Hue is the Imperial City (Dai Noi), where the emperors ruled for over a century. Enter through the impressive Ngo Mon Gate to discover a vast walled citadel that includes the Imperial City and the Forbidden Purple City, where the royal family once lived. Inside, you'll find remarkable landmarks such as Thai Hoa Palace, The Mieu Temple, and the recently restored Kien Trung Palace.
Beyond the Imperial City, Hue is also renowned for its magnificent royal tombs, each reflecting the personality, philosophy, and artistic vision of the emperor it was built for. Just outside the city center, you will find the magnificent royal tombs.
The Tomb of Minh Mang perfectly blends with the surrounding nature.
The Tomb of Tu Duc offers a peaceful escape with its quiet lakes and pine trees.
The Tomb of Khai Dinh features a striking and colorful mix of Asian and European designs, completely covered in glass and porcelain mosaics.
Hue offers far more than its centuries-old monuments. The city is equally loved for the gentle beauty of the Huong River, its relaxed pace of life, and the warm, understated charm of its people. While the Imperial City, royal tombs, Thien Mu Pagoda, and traditional craft villages reflect Hue's rich imperial heritage, the city today also offers modern hotels, convenient transportation, and a wide range of visitor services, making it an easy and comfortable destination to explore.
Finally, no trip to Hue is complete without tasting its famous food! Be sure to try a hot bowl of bun bo Hue (the city's signature spicy beef noodle soup). You should also sample local snacks like savory steamed rice cakes topped with shrimp (banh beo, banh nam), flavorful baby clam rice (com hen), and traditional sweet soups (che). Whether you love history, culture, or great food, Hue promises a journey you will never forget.

Hoi An Ancient Town
Hoi An Ancient Town lies along the lower reaches of the Thu Bon River, about 30 km from Da Nang city center. It was a thriving international trading port between the 16th and 17th centuries, where Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, and Western cultures came together. This unique blend of history, architecture, and cultural heritage earned Hoi An UNESCO World Heritage status in 1999.
As you stroll through its charming, lantern-lined streets, you will discover well-preserved ancient houses, assembly halls, and temples that reflect the town's rich cultural heritage. Among its most iconic landmarks is the Japanese Covered Bridge, a symbol of Hoi An featuring a unique blend of Vietnamese and Japanese architecture spanning the Hoai River. Another highlight is the Fujian Assembly Hall, an impressive temple dedicated to Thien Hau, the sea goddess worshipped by the Chinese community.
As evening falls, Hoi An transforms into a magical town as thousands of colorful lanterns light up its narrow streets, creating the romantic atmosphere it is famous for. Take a boat ride along the Hoai River, release a floating lantern as a symbol of good luck, or wander through the lively night market. You can also have custom-made clothing tailored in as little as a day and sample local specialties such as cao lau, mi Quang, Hoi An chicken rice, Hoi An banh mi, and a refreshing cup of Mot herbal drink.
To visit the historical monuments within Hoi An Ancient Town, visitors are required to purchase an entrance ticket. The current ticket price is VND 80,000 (approximately USD 3.10) for Vietnamese visitors and VND 120,000 (approximately USD 4.60) for international visitors. Children under 1 meter tall enter free of charge, while children between 1 meter and under 1.4 meters tall pay VND 50,000 (approximately USD 1.90) per person.

My Son Sanctuary
My Son Sanctuary is one of the highlights of the Central Vietnam Heritage Road, taking visitors on a journey back in time to discover the glorious legacy of the ancient Champa Kingdom. Nestled in a lush valley in Thu Bon Commune, Da Nang City, about 40 km from the city center, My Son was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999.
It is the largest and most significant collection of Cham temples in Vietnam, with monuments built continuously between the 4th and 13th centuries. More than 70 red-brick temple structures have stood for centuries, showcasing remarkable construction techniques in which the bricks were fitted together so precisely that almost no mortar joints are visible. Throughout the sanctuary, visitors can admire intricate carvings depicting Hindu deities, sacred animals, and graceful Apsara dancers.
Beyond exploring the ancient temple complex, visitors can also enjoy daily cultural performances featuring Apsara dances, Shiva dances, and traditional Cham music at the on-site performance hall. These performances are included in the admission ticket.
To fully appreciate the history and architecture of My Son Sanctuary, consider visiting with a local guide. The best time to visit is early in the morning or after 3:00 PM, when the cooler temperatures and softer light highlight the warm red tones of the ancient temples set against the lush green valley. As the archaeological site covers a large area, it is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen for a more enjoyable visit.
